What a past few months!

February 17th, 2010 Keith Koster No comments

Sorry for the delay in posting to the blog.  We’ve been really busy through Christmas and into the New Year!  We had some wonderful customers and great new products that we added through the Holiday Season, some products even sold better than the manufacturers expected and we ran out pretty quickly.  We’re doing our best to try and get those back up for sale as soon as we can.  Until then please be sure to check in weekly to see what products we’ve added.

Also, we’ve been so busy that we forgot to celebrate our second birthday!  Serendipity Deals opened it’s online doors on February 1st 2008 and just a few weeks ago we turned 2 years old!  In that time we’ve gained more and more customers and had some great experiences with them.  We’re looking to go through this third year and top out everything we’ve done these past two years.

I’m sorry for the short news post today but I didn’t want you loyal readers to think that we had stopped the blog.  We wanted to be sure to get some info in to you today to let you know the plans for the next few weeks.  Which might I add, includes some more of that excellent jewelry we’ve been adding.  Expect a specific color of jewelry to go on sale next month **hint**hint**.

Until then…be sure to use coupon code  YEAR3 on your next purchase to get an extra discount from our already low prices!

I’ve Never Been Able to Cook

December 18th, 2009 Keith Koster Comments off

Seriously!

My favorite phrase used to be “I burn cold cereal”….and really…if you leave me in the kitchen long enough I probably could burn cold cereal.  (Nothing compared to my sister Nicole though, she has ACTUALLY used the phrase “I burnt the water”).  My wife on the other hand, she’s an amazing cook (you could tell by the extra pounds I’ve packed on in the last 7 1/2 years being together).  So since she’s such a good cook I had made the decision to add a product to Serendipity Deals that would make her life much easier when it came to cooking.

My wife loves making Italian Food, LOVES it.  One of the greatest things she makes is chicken and pasta Alfredo.  The only downside we had ever had with that is the 30 or so minutes you have to stand there and stir the Alfredo sauce.  Honestly, she had always made me do it so she could take care of all of the other things she needed to do to make the dinner perfect.  I’m a busy guy (you know, we have a store to run and all) so standing and stirring for 30 minutes wasn’t something I looked forward to.  Along came a product that sounded too good to be true, an automatic stir cooker.  This product tells me that it will not only cook the sauce and many other things, but it would stir it while it’s cooking.  I couldn’t believe it.  I contacted the manufacturer and told them I wanted one and if I liked it I would start selling them through the store.  A few days later the package was at the door and I put it on the counter for my wife to try out.

That night my wife was craving Chinese Food.  Now, according to the products manual it’s great for making all sorts of Chinese Food.  My wife looked through the manual (which includes several recipes) and came upon my favorite thing to order from our local Chinese Restaurant, Chicken with Cashews.

Here is the recipe:

CASHEW CHICKEN
Prep Time: 5 MINUTES
Cook Time: 9 MINUTES

Required Ingredients:

2 chicken breasts; cubed
Add to chicken: 1 Tbsp oil 1 tsp corn starch, 1 tsp sugar, dash of salt. Set aside.
2 garlic cloves (minced)
4 ounces fresh snow peas
4 large mushrooms (sliced)
½ cup water chestnuts or bamboo shoots
¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium)
¾ cup chicken broth
¼ cup chicken broth w/ 1 heaping teaspoon corn starch for thickening
½ cup whole cashews
3 to 4 cups of cooked Rice; Rice must be pre-cooked

Directions:
• Preheat 30 seconds.
• Set to Temperature to 400F and Stir to ON
• Add Oil and garlic.
• Add Chicken. Cook  3 to 4 minutes
• Add Vegetables and ¼ cup soy sauce. Cook  3 minutes
• Add ¾ cup chicken broth. Cook 1 to 2 minutes.
• Add Chicken broth/corn starch mixture to thicken.
• Add Cashews.
• Serve Over Rice.

This is the recipe my wife followed (except she added mushrooms as well).  That night I had the best Cashew Chicken dinner I’ve ever had.  I can honestly tell you that I have no need to order out from a Chinese Restaurant again for that dish (however I still want my Dim Sum).  Since then she’s made caramel popcorn, eggs, chicken and pasta, chicken teriyaki, and many other dishes from this product.  However….ironically she still hasn’t made me my chicken and pasta Alfredo.

However!  Today I decided to try my hand at making myself breakfast.  I figured that one of the best ways to sell this item is to make sure even a non-cook such as myself could use it without failing.  This morning I plugged it in, set it to 350 and set the stir feature to “On” and gave it about 1 minute to pre-heat.  I stirred 4 eggs in a bowl, added salt, pepper, and Bacon Salt.  In the Chef’s Stir Pan I added two tablespoons of canola oil.  I then poured the eggs into the stir cooker and covered it.  After waiting 1 and a half minutes I took shredded 4 Cheese Mexican Cheese and poured about half a cup into the stir cooker (I didn’t actually measure it, I didn’t have much left so I used what was left, you can judge how much cheese would be enough though).  I waited another 30 seconds and then turned the cooker off.  I put my fluffy eggs onto a plate and enjoyed a good hot breakfast without any help!  I did it!  All thanks to this awesome product that we are selling at the store.

With all that said, I highly recommend this product whether you’re a cook, or someone that doesn’t know which end of the fork to eat with.  This is without a shadow of a doubt a product that should be in every home with no exceptions.  To make sure of that we’ve put it on sale until the end of January 2010.  Be sure to order one now!

Faster than we can add them!

Chicago Bears NFL Fleece Huddler

Chicago Bears NFL Fleece Huddler

If you’re looking to buy your loved one (or yourself) one of the wonderful “huddler blankets” that we offer I’d recommend doing it fast!

Why?

We try and add new teams every day as we can, but the teams are selling out faster than we can get them on the site.  The products are so popular that the only way for us to get them right now is to order them directly from the manufacturer to ship them to you.  The manufacturer is getting so many orders that there is a 7 – 10 day processing time on these products.  If you don’t order them quickly you will lose your chance to get a great item for the Holidays.

If you are looking for a particular sports team that you don’t see, or if you want to make sure it’s in stock before you order be sure to contact us to get up to date info.  We are doing our best to get these orders processed as quickly as possible.  There is an amazing rush on these products!

Good Luck and Happy Shopping!

Holiday Sales and More

November 28th, 2009 Keith Koster Comments off

Welcome to the first real update of the Serendipity Deals Latest News blog.  This week we will go over product changes to the store, new products added, as well as what is on sale over this weekend and for “Cyber Monday”.

At the beginning of this week we did a complete remodel of our decals section.  We have added several new decals and all new sizes.  Some of these new sizes are big enough to be used as wall art.  We want to note that the decals are still listed under “Automotive” however they can be used on more than just your vehicles.  For now we will be leaving them in just that category to save people from confusion.  We are open to taking suggestions if anyone wants to come up with a new category for them.  Feel free to post in the comments with your suggestion.  If we use your suggestion (the first person to post the suggestion that we use*) we will send a $10 gift certificate to the email address you registered on our blog with.

Also this week we’ve added “Handbags by Tracie”.  These bags are hand made for each order.    Tracie is a very talented designer that came to me with her handbags showing me the quality and time she puts into each one.  My wife personally owns a purple one (coming soon to the store) that she uses constantly.  They look small however they hold quite a bit of stuff in them.  A very unique design with two steel rings as handles that actually “fold to open” your bag make these products a coffee table talk.

Also this week we’ve added some competition to our #1 best seller.  Getting ready to climb the ranks of best seller’s this week is the Pink Crystal Rose in Vase.  Be sure to order yours soon so you can have one of the best gifts this holiday season.

At around 11PM Thanksgiving night I came back to the office to make sure all of the t’s were crossed and i’s dotted.  Black Friday was upon us in one hour and we wanted to make sure we were ready for our customers.  However, Serendipity Deals knows that it’s not just Black Friday that we need to be ready for….Cyber Monday is just around the corner.  We set up a few “extra” deals for just that occasion.

From Friday through Monday we have discounted the decals by an extra 25%, we’ve also discounted the Kitchen Stir products by an extra $20 from their already discounted prices.

A side note about these Kitchen Stir products.  If you don’t own one……what are you waiting for?  These stir cookers are MUST HAVE products during the holiday season.  Why would you want to spend 30 minutes stirring your sauce when you can put it in the Chef’s Stir Pan and cook and stir it automatically?  This product doesn’t just do sauces, we have many many recipes that can be made with the Chef’s Stir Pan.  We will send them to you with your order.

Speaking of orders, be sure to place them with ample time for processing and delivery.  There is nothing worse than not having your gift in time.  We will do everything in our power to make sure your order is shipped out as fast as possible.

Now, your reward for the week is a coupon code for 5% off of your order.  When you get to check out please be sure to enter coupon code SDBLOG to receive the discount.   Coupon can only be used once and expires December 5th 2009.

Next week’s update will include info on the new products that we will be adding this week including new furniture, art products, and more sports products.  We will also answer a few questions about the steps involved in ordering and give you a few tips for our store.

Until next time, have a great week and happy shopping!
